Beaverton Leaders are Doing Time In the 2013 Beaverton Lock-Up

They say doing time changes you. That couldn’t be more true when business and community leaders agree to be part of the MDA Lock-Up! By agreeing to do time, these leaders from all around Beaverton go behind bars as they raise bail money to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The MDA Lock-Up is a community event that is a unique and fun way to help local children and adults who live with muscle disease. By being an MDA Jailbird, you’ll ask your family, friends and business contacts to make donations to your “bail”, which are funds that will help MDA in its mission of curing muscular dystrophy, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and related diseases by funding worldwide research, providing comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education.

Make a Muscle, Make your Bail and Make a Difference in the fight against muscle disease.

Muscular Dystrophy Association Locked-Up in McMinnville

What we use to describe a lock upOn Wednesday, Oct 16th , the Muscular Dystrophy Association locked up the most notorious citizens of the McMinnville area. Jailbirds were arrested at their place of business by Special MDA agents (United States Navy), then transported to our “jailhouse” at La Rambla.  Upon arrival, they were booked by our Celebrity Judge and had their mug shot taken by Firehouse Foto. They were then escorted to their “jail cell” to finish raising their bail. Each Jailbird enjoyed La Rambla’s version of “bread and water” as they raised more of their bail.Bail was set at $1,600 per jailbird. All monies raised support local families with clinic visits at OHSU and Shriners Hospitals, MDA’s Summer Camp for kids, research, medical equipment repairs, and support groups. Additionally, the Jailbirds that raised their bail goal are sending two children to camp!

Local 1805 Memery Makers 2013

Memories are being made at the Clark County Fair. Fire District 6 is pleased to have the opportunity to provide some good clean fun to families of seriously ill children. With sponsorships from the Clark County Fair, Peoples Community Credit Union, and Butler Amusements, this program is celebrating its fourth year. This year, our children will be coming from the Providence Child Center for medically fragile children and Legacy Children’s Hospital. Fire District 6 firefighters and firefighter/paramedics from the International Association of Firefighters Local 1805 will escort the children and their families to the Fair. The families are treated to a tour of all the animals, the children’s area, free carnival rides, a chance to win at the carnival games, and that great fair food – especially the Dairy Women’s milkshakes. The families are able to enjoy a day out with their kids with the knowledge that medically trained individuals are right there in case of a problem.
